A 24 hour gym entrance solution connects membership verification with physical access control so authorized members can enter during staffed and unstaffed hours. BOLAN Security supplies tripod turnstiles, swing gates and speed gates that can work with compatible readers and access controllers, with OEM/ODM options for the club’s layout and brand.
For a fitness club, the entrance needs to do more than open after a scan. It must handle expired memberships, trial visits, class arrivals, accessible passage and requests for help when reception is closed. Planning the hardware and operating rules together creates a more convenient member experience and helps operators control access to paid facilities.
The entrance connects four functions: identifying the member, checking their access rights, releasing the gate and confirming passage. A member presents a card, wristband, QR code or another approved credential. The connected platform or controller checks whether access is allowed at that time and sends an authorization signal to the turnstile.
The gate then permits passage according to its configuration. Where passage feedback is available and integrated, the system can distinguish a successful scan from an actual entry. This distinction matters for visit allowances, attendance records and anti-passback rules.
In a gym with a locked exterior door, coordinate that door with the internal turnstile. Members need a clear route from the street to the reader, while sales visitors should be directed to reception during staffed hours. A lobby turnstile alone does not manage every door into the building.
An active member may have all-hours access, off-peak access or permission for selected facilities. A day-pass customer may receive a limited entry period, while a trial member may need a first-visit orientation. These permissions belong in the membership or access platform and should be agreed before choosing readers.
If a membership expires or payment is overdue, the platform should apply the club’s agreed policy to future entry attempts. Give members a useful next step, such as contacting support or renewing through their account. Entry restrictions must remain separate from the ability to leave the facility safely.
For shared health clubs, define whether the same credential opens the gym floor, swimming pool and premium studios. Class booking access, multi-site membership and guest allowances depend on software support; they should be included in the integration scope when required.
Club requirement | Product candidate | Selection focus |
Boutique gym or compact reception | BLS-S205 swing gate | Slim cabinet, motorized passage and reader placement |
Budget-conscious member entrance | Electronic tripod such as BLS-T302 | Passage cycle, operating type and adjacent wide access |
Premium fitness club | Speed gate such as BLS-HS335 | Reception design, passage sensing and traffic flow |
Wheelchairs and assisted passage | Compatible wide swing or speed gate lane | Clear width, approach space and independent use |
The BLS-S205 is a practical candidate where a slim cabinet and motorized swing passage suit the entrance. Its published cabinet dimensions are 1200 × 135 × 980 mm. The 135 mm figure is cabinet width, not the total installation width; the passage, opposite cabinet and side clearances must also fit the site.
The model uses a brushless DC drive and offers infrared sensing, LED guidance and optional credential readers. BOLAN can review reader mounting, finishes and lane configuration for the project. Confirm the current production configuration and delivery schedule when requesting a quotation.
Electronic tripod turnstiles are useful where budget and a defined passage cycle are priorities. A semi-automatic version releases after authorization and is pushed by the user; a fully automatic version uses a motor to assist rotation. BOLAN models such as the BLS-T302 can be evaluated for this type of entrance.
Provide an adjacent suitable wide gate for users who cannot use the rotating-arm passage. A purely mechanical tripod does not provide electronic membership verification, so it is not the appropriate choice for an integrated member access system.
Speed gates suit fitness clubs that want motorized glass or acrylic barriers and an open reception appearance. Models such as the BLS-HS335 can be considered alongside the required reader and lane layout. Select the sensor arrangement, clear width and opening behavior for the expected member traffic and operating policy.
Start with the software platform and its supported access controller. BOLAN can review the gate interface and reader installation with the club's integrator. A compatible authorization output, commonly a relay contact, can command the gate to release. Full synchronization of membership status, payments and visit records requires the relevant software and controller integration.
Agree how quickly a cancelled membership reaches the access controller, how duplicate scans are handled and whether the platform consumes a visit on authorization or confirmed passage. Where a club needs anti-passback, establish how entry and exit events are tracked and how staff correct an incomplete record.
RFID cards or wristbands offer a familiar member credential. QR codes can suit app-based access and temporary passes, provided the chosen reader can read the displayed code. Dynamic or single-use QR credentials require validation by a supporting platform. Facial recognition is another option where suitable; keep an alternative access method and agree enrollment and data handling with the club.
A practical unstaffed arrangement combines the gate with an agreed monitoring and assistance process. Members should see clear instructions for a rejected credential and have a way to contact support. Define who receives an alarm and how an authorized operator can investigate and assist.
Tailgating means someone follows an authorized member without their own permission. Credential sharing is different: another person uses a valid credential. Address these separately through appropriate passage sensing, membership rules and identity checks. Low barriers can still be climbed or bypassed, so the entrance layout and response process remain important.
Use fixed side barriers to close walk-around gaps while preserving approved escape routes. Where a site needs stronger physical separation, assess a more enclosed entrance arrangement against the available space, accessibility needs and risk level. Avoid assuming that one gate type makes the entire facility secure without staff.
During a network outage, continued member access depends on the selected controller's offline capability and stored permissions. Agree how long those permissions remain valid and how events synchronize after reconnection. Power-loss and fire-alarm behavior should be specified and tested for the complete entrance system.
Group classes create short arrival peaks that daily membership totals do not reveal. Record how many people arrive immediately before classes, how many leave at the same time and where visitors wait for assistance. Locate the reader so a stopped user does not obstruct the entire reception area.
For illustration, 90 arrivals in five minutes create an average demand of 18 people per minute. One lane operating at an assumed effective rate of 20 people per minute leaves little spare capacity for failed scans or uneven arrivals. Test the proposed configuration and consider a separate exit or additional entry lane where space permits. These figures illustrate planning logic, not a product throughput rating.
An accessible lane should be part of the normal member journey, including during unstaffed hours. Review clear passage width, reader reach, approach space and opening time together. BOLAN can evaluate wide-lane configurations against the project brief; the complete accessible route needs local design review.
For a new club, plan power, controller connections, floor fixings and side barriers before finishes are completed. For a retrofit, measure the installed footprint and check the floor construction, door swings and equipment delivery route. Protect cables from member traffic and routine cleaning.
Where drilling is restricted, ask BOLAN to assess a base-mounted arrangement. The design must suit the selected gate, provide adequate stability and manage ramps and cable routing. This is a project-specific option rather than a universal substitute for floor anchoring.
BOLAN's published Southern USA hotel and water park case describes BLS-HS306 speed gates used with RFID wristbands and an exit wristband collection arrangement. The project also addressed different guest access permissions and connection with the venue's hotel management system.
For fitness operators, the relevant lesson is to plan credentials, permissions and gate behavior as one workflow. The same planning approach can inform health clubs with pools or paid activity zones. This is a leisure venue reference; a gym project requires its own membership software and operating configuration.
Shenzhen Bolan Security Technology Co., Ltd. supplies pedestrian turnstiles and vehicle barriers and has been active in access control since 2011. Our range allows fitness operators and system integrators to compare different gate types within one project.
OEM/ODM discussions can cover cabinet finish, logo application, reader mounting and layout adaptations. For a chain rollout, agree a repeatable configuration and site-specific variations so reader positions, lane behavior and maintenance access stay consistent across locations.
Send BOLAN your entrance plan, available width, site photos, staffed hours and busiest class changeover pattern. Include your membership software, preferred credentials, accessible passage needs and any restrictions on floor drilling. We can review suitable gate options and customization requirements for a project-specific quotation.
